We all know making healthy choices can help us feel better and healthier. However, sometimes it can be overwhelming with the amount of information you get. Today, I would like to share 10 life-changing habits that I have incorporated into my daily life. I have witnessed the profound positive change they have made in my life!
Before we start – Close your eyes and take a moment to imagine what’s your life looks like next year and in three years’ time? What is your best vision for the future? Set up the intention for your life and then let’s move on to the actions!
10 life-changing habits:
Habit 1: Make sleep a top priority
We spend almost 1/3 of our lifetime asleep. Many scientists have proven how important sleep is to our physical and mental health. Make sure you have at least 7 to 8 hours of sleep. It is the key to maintaining a good mood and healthy lifestyle.
Habit 2: Create a morning routine
What’s your first thing to do every morning? How do you normally feel? You probably notice when you are starting the day in a positive mood, there’s a high chance you’ll have a great day. Therefore, creating a feel-good morning routine is a great tip to help you start and enjoy the day! Choose any of these 10 life-changing habits or here are some ideas for you:
- Try some yoga or stretching
- Set positive intentions
- Go for a walk
- Water plants
- Read a few pages of book
- Make and enjoy breakfast
Habit 3: Challenge your thoughts
Have you noticed how many thoughts you have per day? A study published in 2020 shows people generally have more than 6,000 thoughts per day. Your thoughts create emotions, emotions can control your behaviours, which in turn change your life experience! So, if you are not 100% happy with your life now, then you should start paying attention to your thoughts and learn to challenge them.
I don’t have to believe every thought I think. I have a choice. I choose to believe the thoughts that empower me and others.
That is one of my favourite quotes from my friend Michael Adamedes who also wrote a great book “Say Hello to Happiness”.
Habit 4: Incorporate a healthy diet
There’s a phrase “You are what you eat”. It has been around since the 18century. It’s the best quote to describe the importance of diet to you.
You have over 30 trillion cells working independently to support you every moment. Their nutrients only come from water, air and food. Providing the right nutrient-rich food to your body is the key to your health!
Habit 5: Practice gratitude
This is the simplest thing to do, and it can change your whole life! Take a couple of minutes before bed, and write down at least three things that you’re grateful for that day. You’ll see everything changes very shortly. If you only want to start with one thing today, start from this!
Habit 6: Stay active
Physical activities can help your brain release certain chemicals to feel happier and more relaxed. Regular exercise has many health benefits from boosting energy levels to better sleep, to strengthen bones.
Habit 7: Focus on connections
This does not only mean connecting with friends and family but is about paying attention to your surroundings. We are social beings, so don’t lock yourself in. Try to connect with other people, plants, animals, nature and even the air you’re breathing in right now!
Habit 8: Learn something new
Do you agree that it’s exciting when you are trying something new? New things can create new experiences and help you stay in the present as well! Fortunately, we have a lot of resources on the internet these days. Let’s try something new, whether it’s a skill or idea or a different point of view, they can inspire you!
Habit 9: Try meditation
There are more and more people talking about the benefits of meditation and mindfulness. However, it can be a challenge at first. If you struggle to start, some “active” meditation can help! Try breathing work or OSHO dynamic meditation.
Habit 10: Have some me time!
Schedule some time only for yourself every day even only 10 minutes. Do anything that you enjoy and that can help you unwind during the day. This also would be the best time to practice self-love and communicate with yourself. You deserve it, enjoy!
Life is a sum of all your choices
I know it is challenging to form new habits at the beginning. Feel free to modify and incorporate these life-changing habits into your daily life. The most important thing is committing to do it persistently. Also, it’s okay to have some downtime or bad days. Don’t feel guilty about it. Just remember, everything you do can have an impact on your health and your quality of life!
In the end, let’s repeat the affirmation three times and get started!
I am in charge of my life.
