White Turmeric Powder

The Perfect Orange Turmeric Alternative

New to Australia, this exotic variety of turmeric offers a host of amazing benefits and packs a powerful anti-inflammatory & antioxidant punch.

White turmeric contains many phytonutrients including Caryophyllene, which is digested faster & easier than curcumin!

White turmeric, Curcuma mangga (also known as mango turmeric or mango ginger in India). Is a variety of turmeric that has a mild, fruity & slightly earthy flavour and aroma, when compared to the more commonly used yellow turmeric. In Asia, the fresh root is used to make pickles, chutneys, and sauces – adding a unique flavour & aroma to many traditional dishes.

Here are some ways to use this white turmeric powder in cooking:

  • Curries & Stews: White turmeric can be used to add a unique flavour to curries and stews. It pairs well with other aromatic spices like cumin, coriander, and cardamom.
  • Rice Dishes: You can add white turmeric to rice dishes like biryani, pilaf, or fried rice for added flavour, colour & health benefits.
  • Soups: White turmeric can be added to soups and broths for added depth of flavour.
  • Marinades & Rubs: Mix with other herbs & spices to create a flavourful marinade or rub for meats, fish, or vegetables.
  • Turmeric Latte: White turmeric can also be used to make a turmeric latte – being mixed with hot milk & a squeeze of honey.
  • Smoothies, Juice & Tea: Because of its milder flavour & less dominant colour, white turmeric can be a great turmeric substitute.

The wonders of white turmeric powder go beyond just adding flavour to your dishes. With its potent anti-inflammatory properties, potential benefits for prostate health, and promising role in cancer prevention and treatment, this unassuming spice is emerging as a powerful ally in promoting overall well-being.

Men’s Health – Prostate: White turmeric shows potential in inhibiting prostate growth, especially relevant for benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). Studies suggest Curcuma mangga may reduce prostate size and BPH symptoms, though more research is needed.

Antioxidant: White turmeric’s antioxidants protect against free radicals linked to cancer and heart disease.

Breast & Liver Cancer: Curcuma mangga extracts may combat breast and liver cancer by inducing cell death and inhibiting growth, but human studies are required.

Chemopreventive & Chemotherapeutic: White turmeric holds promise for cancer prevention and treatment but needs further investigation for optimal dosage, safety, and efficacy in humans.

For those who find the taste of traditional turmeric too strong, the milder and less pungent flavour of white turmeric Curcuma mangga offers a welcome alternative. Its subtle earthy and citrusy notes can make it a more palatable choice.

  • If you’re concerned about the vivid yellow-orange hue that yellow turmeric imparts to your dishes, white turmeric’s gentler colour may be a better fit.
  • If you have allergies or sensitivities to compounds in yellow turmeric, white turmeric may be better tolerated.

While both types share some health benefits, white turmeric’s unique bioactive compounds could offer specific advantages making it a good turmeric alternative.

The White Turmeric plant has long, narrow leaves that grow up to 1 meter in length and a stalk that can reach up to 1.5 meters tall. Its underground rhizome is yellowish-orange, resembling that of ginger but with a distinct mango-like aroma and taste.

White turmeric powder can be a valuable addition to your pet’s diet, especially as they age, promoting their health and mobility. While orange turmeric (or the pepper used to activate it) can sometimes lead to upset stomachs in pets, white turmeric offers a gentle alternative.

White turmeric boasts a wealth of natural antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties, offering significant benefits for alleviating joint pain and addressing a wide range of health concerns, not only for us but also for our cherished four-legged companions.

How to Use Turmeric for Dogs

When introducing white turmeric powder to your pet’s diet, remember the mantra: “Start low and go slow.” Gradually incorporate it into their food, allowing them to adapt to the new flavor over time. This gentle approach ensures a smooth transition and helps your furry friend reap the full benefits of this natural remedy.

Q & A

Can I used it to my Skin (i.e my face) ? Kaushik Kumar asked on May 26, 2022

Hi Kaushik,
Yes, our product is a natural whole food not an extract, it is generally safe to use on the skin.
However, I do recommend trying on your hand or other parts of skin first, before you try on your face.
Hope this helps :)
