What is Black Garlic and why you NEED to try it?

Today, garlic is one of the most popular ingredients in cuisines worldwide. But did you know Garlic has been used as a medicinal herb and plant for thousands of years?

Yes, garlic is a potent herbal remedy – scientifically proven to support heart health and boost your immune system – reducing the severity & duration of cold and flu symptoms.

However, not everyone likes garlic’s pungent smell and the unpleasant breath after eating it. If you are one of these people, we have a solution for you – Black Garlic.

Black garlic is made by aging raw garlic in the oven for 30 – 40 days. Some people have referred to the process as fermentation, but that’s not exactly right. Instead, is a very slow roast that results in a chemical reaction that darkens the garlic cloves, transform the odour to a mellow smell, and gives the garlic a sweet and chewy taste.

Compared to raw garlic, black garlic doesn’t release a strong offensive flavour. This is because it’s low in allicin, the chemical that causes the ‘garlic’ smell. However, black garlic is extraordinarily high in antioxidants which allow your body to fight against various types of cancer. It also contains nutrients like calcium, selenium, phosphorus, magnesium, vitamin B6 and vitamin C.

  • Prevent Uric Acid Build up
  • Lower Cholesterol & Blood Pressure
  • Reduce Inflammation
  • Fight Diabetes.
  • Reduce the Severity of Allergies.
  • Strengthen our Immune System against Infections

Even more importantly, black garlic extract can significantly lower blood pressure, which is a major risk factor for strokes, heart attacks, kidney disease, and early death!

Therefore, it can be concluded that black garlic’s health benefits may be more powerful in some ways than raw garlic. (And its more delicious than raw garlic, in my opinion)

Black garlic can be used in all the garlic cuisines, added to traditionally non-garlic recipes, or eaten directly as a healthy snack. A personal favourite is peeled black garlic with its mellow smell, jellylike texture and delicious taste!
