Most store-bought burgers are mass-produced by businesses, wanting/needing to make a profit. Because hamburger patties are made from ground beef, which can be expensive if you choose to eat good quality. Common business practice is to use lower quality & cheaper ground beef or minced meat.  

What makes homemade burgers the best?

Yes, they can be, but it really depends if you’re using chicken mince or chicken pieces… chicken thighs fillets are the best choice because they stay moist when grilling, when compared to chicken breast.

What Makes a Good Burger?

GBA – Good Burger Analysis, needs to be broken down into 4 sections.

1) The Hamburger Patties – Should have a nice mouth feel ie. pleasant taste & texture.

2) The Sauce – Black Garlic is essential for a burger to be classed as good…🤣 However, if you’re looking to break into the excellent range – then mayonnaise & sweet chilli are extremely complimentary!

3) The Bun – Should be fresh & firm (traditional burger buns are cheap & nasty ie. stale white bread with sesame seeds on top…)

4) The Fillings – The classic burger fillings are onion, lettuce, tomato & cheese. But if you’re looking to beef it up a little, (pun intended) then egg, beetroot, and pineapple are good options. However, if you are looking to go top shelf with your hamburger, then black garlic & caramelized onion are sure to get the result!

Burger Patties

  • 1 tbsp Flour
  • 1 tbsp Breadcrumbs
  • 1 tsp Tomato sauce
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire
  • 1 tbsp Black garlic puree
  • 1 Egg
  • 1/2 Onion, grated
  • 300 g Mince meat
  • 2-3 cloves Black Garlic peeled cloves
  • Salt & pepper


  • 1 tsp Black garlic puree
  • 1 tsp Mayonnaise
  • 1 tsp Sweet chili sauce
  • 2 Burger bread
  • Veggies
  • Cheese


  • Add burger patties ingredients in a large bowl and mix together. (Exculde the black garlic peeled cloves)
  • Make patties – each patty about 2cm thick and pat to a firmer texture.
  • Stuff black garlic cloves into the patties.
  • Pan fry the patties for about 8 minutes.
  • Combine the burger sauce together and spread on burger bread.
  • Make the burger & Enjoy!
